A Princess; Farewell to Call Again Cavalier; and a Record-Breaking Oldenburg Sale

by galloping_on
  • In a very in-depth article, the Lexington Herald-Leader offers readers a way to get to know Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein—wife of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan. Princess Haya is fairly new as the president of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and will be very involved with the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. She is also a hands-on horse person and a former Olympian. The article is very detailed and well-done, making you feel like you are really getting to know another horse lover.
  • And in a sad moment in equestrian sport, British Bronze medalist in eventing, Mary King, lost her Olympic mount, Call Again Cavalier at the Express Eventing event over the weekend.
  • And in news from Vechta, Germany, an Oldenburg stallion sold for 1.1 million Euro (or approximately $1,395,636 U.S.). The gray stallion, Le Champ Ask, was purchased by Blue Hors of Denmark. You can read more about it and view videos of longing or at liberty and jumping on the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society website, and see this truly magnificent looking horse.
