Arabians are just beautiful and I love that they seem to incorporate so many wonderful traits of other breeds

I agree. But it's more like so many other breeds have the wonderful traits of Arabians - they were key foundation sources for several of the major performance breeds today. The Thoroughbred as we know it was bred in England with the crossings of three imported stallions (two of which were known Arabians, one of which was possibly an Arabian or an Akhal-Teke) with native English mares. In our own country, the National Show Horse and the Morab are both examples of out-crossing Arabians with other breeds to get show horses in the last century.

This is great information - thank you. Sometimes I hear people that look down on Arabians a bit because they can be fightly and a bit over the top. Kind of like people we are all mixed together and come orginally from the same source. I am now about to have a 3/4 arabian from my Half-arab (saddlebred and arabian) and another purebred arabian. I have heard it is hard to get a good 3/4 arabian.

Try looking up Arabian horse on wikipedia - there is a section covering the Arab's influence on the development of other breeds. (And there are alot that were influenced by the Arabian breed.) I had a half-Arab all through middle school and high school myself. I honestly don't have any experience with 3/4 Arabs so I can't make any judgement there.

I used to take lessons on a QH at an Arabian show barn. (yeah, their beginner horse was a QH.) The Arabians seemed very smart and passionate. I used to take carrots to my lesson horse in his turnout after our lesson. I learned to carry more carrots because the other horses figured out what I was doing (probably smelled the carrots) and didn't want to miss out. I had to dole them out so that I wouldn't run out. One time I did, and one of the Arabians realized that he'd missed out and threw a fit. But you can see the Arabian's influence manifested in a lot of breeds, especially around the head.

Just so you know, a Saddlebred/Arab is a National Show horse. And another fact-oid: Arabs are known for being suceptable to Strangles. Never go to the Big E after the Arabian horse show, strangles is always lurking htere after that breed leaves.

And don't forget, the Arab is a hotblood.
